Strike
Ending "Write"
Now!
==========================================
The WGA and AMPTP
have made a handshake
agreement, ending the
strike. So long as the
formality of the WGA
presenting terms
to its Writers on Saturday
goes smooth, the wheels
of production will be
turning once again.
Although the financial
loss incurred by striking
WGA members far exceeds
the initial amount they
were seeking in retro-active
revenue, this strike
will have secured financial
participation in new
media for Writers in
years to come.
New Media has not
only created new streams
of revenue, but also
created new outlets
for original entertainment
produced solely for
those venues. Your concept
for a reality-show may
not be right for prime-time,
but you may find a production
company producing it
for the Internet and
distributing it in various
other platforms. Lets
celebrate the financial
solution the strike
has brought on , and
look forward to a flourishing
period of collaboration
across all mediums.
We're surely entering
a period of huge opportunity
for new writers and
producers.
In that spirit,
the
TV
Writers Vault
is a source pool for
new writing talent,
and we're excited to
venture into relations
with various network
fellowship programs,
and other vehicles of
opportunity, promoting new
writers. Take advantage
of the support the industry
provides new talent,
and get your material
out there. Also, know
that even thought we
each want to reach
the mountain top and
hold the torch alone,
this is a business of
collaboration, and
it is mission critical to
pursue partnerships
with other Writers or
Producers who bring
something to the table.
We'll be doing our best
to bring you those opportunities
for networking and collaborating.
I wish each of you
continued success in
2008.
