Greetings Writers!
The TV Writers Vault
is excited to
be creating a new avenue
of opportunity for
television writers
seeking representation
and exposure. Starting
July 1st, member
Writers may submit
"Spec Scripts"
for current TV
Shows in production.
Every working television
Writer's arsenal
is rounded out with
a few hot writing
samples of current
shows on the air,
so this is a must
do for anyone serious
about their career.
Agents and Producers
view these writing
samples as calling
cards for potential
hiring to work
on current
or future productions.
The WGA mandates
that all Networks
with scripted shows
in production must
hire a minimum number
of new writers to
the show's staff
each season. Those
writers are only
considered when
having proven through
"Spec Writing"
that specific show
to illustrate they
can capture the
voice, characters
and style of the
show. The TV Writers
Vault is now marketing
for the involvement
of Literary Agencies
to scout spec writers
to represent to
companies in production,
and you will see
many of our members
finding representation
for their own concepts
and other projects.
This month we've
seen a focus in
the type of projects
getting reviewed
at the
TV Writers Vault.
It seems that member
Execs know exactly
what they're looking
for- Gameshows!
Few companies have
the hands-on experience
to produce them,
but they seem to
know what the networks
want, and everybody
wants to be a part
of it.
Stay tuned for an
insider's tale of
toils in the pitching
world as my writing
partner Burk Lindahl
and myself detail the
roller-coaster ride
we've been on since
receiving multiple
offers on our own
primetime gameshow
format. From tedious
negotiations with one A-list
production company,
to competing
interests, to maverick
movers-and-shakers
helping us find
the right home for
the project. This
is no merry-go-round
for the meek, but
certainly exciting
as we move closer
to signing our first
Producing deal together.
I'm happy to share
any guidance or
advice for
those of you with
questions about
the process of development
and pitching, and
happy to provide
any writing or consulting
services that may
meet your needs.
Best of success
to all of our Writers.
Celebrate the world,
and write inspired.
Best Regards,
Scott Manville
