"...A very valuable asset to anyone involved in production and programming"

TV Writers Vault News ® - February 2011
In This Edition:
- Projects Sold | Industry Activity
- New Industry Members
- Industry Exec Interviews
- Testimonials
- Nickelodeon TV Writing Fellowship
- TVFilmRights.com | Scouting Report
The new year continues to bring good results for our Writing Members at the TV Writers Vault, with a ton of industry reviews of projects, and more people connecting with Producers. Congrats to Peter De Jongh of Alaska! His reality-based concept was reviewed by Fremantle Media (American Idol) / BEI TV, and he received a Contact Request by their Executive Producer in pursuit of his project.
The bulk of activity is on reality-based, and docu-style series. Most recently, the President of Film Garden Entertainment, Nancy Miller, joined our service to scout "Unique Businesses & Professions" for development as docu-style reality series'. So take a close look at your lives, and the lives of people around you. You may have the next hit cable series right at your finger tips.
For those of you using our affiliate service, the TV/Film Rights Marketplace, take serious consideration of their new members feature, "The Scouting Report". This is an "Industry First" report, detailing the specific project types (genres, subjects, themes, and personal descriptions) wanted by the Producers and Executives sourcing material from the TV Film Rights database. This report is going to become the hot device for all producers and writers as it expands. Click Here to check out details.
Lastly- Just want to make sure all of you concept Creators are getting your work protected prior to marketing. In the world of Intellectual Property Law, you need two measures of "proof" for full protection; "Proof of Authorship" prior to exposure, and "Proof of Exposure" when marketing the material. The Creators Vault provides time-stamped archival and proof of authorship for original writing, with discounted rates for new drafts submitted. The TV Writers Vault provides our members the second measure of protection, "proof of exposure" as we provide electronic proof of review by all executives scouting projects.
A Breakdown of The Month...
Recent Connections & Deals:
Peter De Jongh of Sitka, Alaska, got the nod from BEI TV at Fremantle Media North America (American Idol), requesting contact with Peter after reviewing his reality series concept at the TV Writers Vault
Jeff Lenburg of Goodyear, Arizona, received a Contact Request from Buck Productions interested in his reality-based concept they recently reviewed.
Ralph Harmon of Mesa, Arizona, has signed a 1 year contract with Film Garden Entertainment to produce his reality series discovered at the TV Writers Vault.
Leisa Naples-Mullins has landed a Co-Executive Producer deal for her family-lifestyle series with Buck Productions. Concept/Treatment was penned by Scott Manville. Deal comes after multiple offers from A-List companies such as Dick Clark Productions and Fremantle Media North America. This was a perfect example of a Writer being bold enough to go with the "right" company, instead of the biggest.
Dorie Geniesse has secured a network shopping deal with Smoke & Mirrors Creative, and a second deal for another reality-based format with Buck Productions. Geniesse continues to develop new projects with her Executive contacts at these companies.
One of our most consistently successful and talented Writing Members, Stephen Reichel, is also in discussions with Buck Productions to orchestrate a deal for his reality-based concept.

New Testimonials:
"Hi Scott, Just wanted you and your staff at TV Writers Vault to know that our project, [title is confidential], was reviewed by Film Garden Entertainment, and we have now signed a 1 year contract with them. We can not thank you enough! If not for the TV Writers Vault, this may not have ever happened. With much appreciation, Ralph Harmon"
Ralph Harmon | Writing Member
"Words cannot describe how thankful I am that I engaged Scott Manville and the TV Writers Vault to write and market my project. After pitching the concept's treatment that Scott developed and wrote, I received multiple offers from A-List companies (Dick Clark Productions, Fremantle Media). He even helped me navigate through countless meetings and a few contracts before signing a deal with the “right" production company. Scott and the TV Writers Vault were there every step of the way and always available to guide me through the bumps in the road.",
Leisa Naples-Mullins | Client, On-Air Talent, Producer
